Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Kidz Forts kits safety tested?
Yes. Product safety is our top priority. Our kits have been rigorously 3rd party tested to meet or exceed safety standards as dictated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, including ASTM F963 Toy Safety Standards, as well as Canadian Consumer Product Toy Safety Standards.
Are the Kidz Forts™ eco-friendly?
Absolutely.
Our corrugated components are made from recycled fiber. Yet, they are built from heavyweight liners for superior strength, stiffness and durability, yet 100% recyclable.
Our connectors are made from a durable plastic alloy. which have also been tested to meet or exceed US Consumer Products Safety Commission Standards for Children's Products. All plastic trimmings are captured, and recycled during the production run.
The connectors are dishwasher safe, so if they get dirty, they are easy to clean. And the handle and connectors are 100% recyclable.
Are the kits waterproof?
No - for good reason. If they were chemically treated to be water-proof, they would not be recyclable, and any waste from the manufacturing would have to be land-filled.
Our kits are intended for indoor enjoyment. They are not water-proof or water-resistant.
Can I build a kit outside in my backyard?
You can; however, we advise you not to do so when the lawn is wet or there is a chance of rain. It is best to bring it inside once you’re finished playing it. Leaving it out overnight could damage the kit if it's exposed to dewey conditions or sprinklers.
Are Your Connectors Compatible with the Make-A-Fort Kits?
Yes. Our connectors can be used to build and make your Make-A-Fort kits even more sturdy.
Can I paint the inside or outside of my Kidz Fort?
Yes. Acrylic paint is generally the best choice. Here’s why:
Porous surface: Cardboard is porous, and acrylic paint adheres well to it without excessive soaking or warping.
Non-toxic: Many acrylic paints are non-toxic and safe for children. Look for labels that specify “AP certified non-toxic” or similar.
Water-based cleanup: Acrylics are water-based, making them easy to clean up with soap and water. This is convenient for both kids and adults.
Versatile:
Acrylic paints come in a wide variety of colors and finishes, giving
you plenty of options for decorating your Fort creations.
Fast drying: Acrylics dry quickly, which means less waiting time and less chance of smudging.
Note: Please read the safety warnings before attempting to paint your Fort creation.
